Dear Sir/Mame:

I am writing to oppose the proposed roundup of wild horses in the Divide Basin HMA.

I was out in this area this past Spring and had a hard time locating any wild horses,

though I did see many cattle and drilling platforms, indicating fracking, etc.

I am very opposed to BLM’s neglecting its duties to the wild horses in the wild

and to their legal herd areas. Under Section 2 c of the WFHBA the wild horses

should be the principal recipients of resources within their legal areas, but all the

opposite is happening. You are giving the great majority of resources to ranchers,

energy extractors, etc. This is illegal and an abrogation of your responsibility.

Please cancel plans for any roundup and raise the Appropriate Management Levels

to more truly long-term viable levels. See my book for reference as to what these should be

And this is according to IUCN SSC Equid Specialist Group recommendations contained

in their plan for the world’s several species of equids, all declining.

North America is the place of origin of all members of this family, and the horse should

be considered as indigenous here.

as Reserve Design to provide for truly long-term viable populations in all the

Herd Areas (BLM) and Territories (USFS) that remain and a restoration of the herds.
